A PASSION FOR MUSIC AND ART
BIOGRAPHY OF SEBASTiAN BREITENBACH
Hello, everybody! My name is Sebastian Breitenbach and I was born in 1984 in Bad Soden-Salmünster. I studied musicology, pedagogy and history at the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Germany. At the moment I’m currenctly writing my PhD in educational psychology, focussing on educational technology (simulation & VR for pre-service teachers). At this site, I want to share my musical and artistic works.
Quite early I got interested in music, so with the age of 10, I learned my first instrument, drums. After a short period of time I discovered the piano and got lessons for that as well. I was primarily interested in harmonic structures and improvisation; an interest which stayed up to this point and led to my university subject choice of musicology. At the age of 16, I picked up the electric guitar as my third instrument, quickly followed by the electric bass and then, at least to some extend, the accordion.
I always wrote my own pieces, as long as I can think. I also had to produce them, so I’m also nowadays trained with the use of DAWs as well. The genres range from classical to filmscore, from Jazz to Ambient and from 8bit to Metal.
After my first band Cryptic Silence disbanded after a short time, I found my place behind the drums with the band Conjuring. We all had a great time, but after 15 years of recording, playing gigs and having a great time, life kinda hit (families, jobs, you know the drill) and the band got disbanded. Still, I will be eternally grateful for this time, never have I been in another musical project or band just like this: Such a harmonic band feeling, such nice guys. I wish everybody involved just the best for the future.
Apart from Conjuring, I had some side projects, which were all not that successful to be honest. Something I did for the longest time and with the most passion was my death/thrash metal project Wylouw. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find a vocalist and due to a HDD failure all projects are lost, only the mp3s survived. Still, I got some nice riffs in there and it a nice listen after all. After that I briefly dabbled into Psychedelic Rock/Jazz, but due to various reasons this never really emerged as a project. At the moment I’m very much into chinese music and synthwave, but at the moment I just release stuff like that under Sebastian Breitenbach. Maybe in the future I pick up another project, but for now everything is fine.
